Visiting: Temple of Artemis, Ephesus Ancient City, Sirince Greek Village
Duration: 5 hours
You will find your professional, local guide waiting for you as you exit Izmir Harbor, ready to take you to Selcuk, the ancient city of Ephesus and the little Greek village of Sirince.
Dating back more than 3,000 years, Ephesus was once one of the largest Roman cities of its day and home to more than 200,000 people. Today its ruins have been impeccably preserved, including the Odeon, the Temple of Hardian and the impressive Library of Celsius whose two-story façade is one of Ephesus' most photographed images.
Sirince Greek Village
The small Greek village of Sirince lies a short distance outside of Selcuk and is home to cobblestone streets lined with 19th century houses. Locals once dubbed it Cirkince, or 'ugly', to discourage others from settling there, but the name Sirince, or 'pleasant' is much more appropriate. Don't miss the opportunity to sample some of the local, homemade goods for sale.
Do not miss a chance to visit the Terrace Houses section which is located inside the Ancient City of Ephesus and has an extra entrance fee of 15 USD per person. Its oldest building, "The houses of the rich Romans", dates back to the 1st century BC and exhibits beautiful mosaics and frescoes on its walls, as well as the famous clay pipe water and heating systems. Please be aware that in this section there are over 100 stairs so we do not recommend it for people with physical disabilities. It takes a minimum of 30 minutes to visit.
